The Assignment
The University of Brighton had a high-level business need to consolidate the various tokens and cards that we issued to students to access buildings and services provided by the University and several third-party suppliers.
The University Technical Services Manager recognised that the university did not have the knowledge or expertise to design, build and implement a multi-application smartcard scheme that would meet their requirements and those of the Students.
Our Involvement
Consulting Smart Ltd was approached by another leading smartcard consultancy to form a strategic partnership to deliver scheme design and high-level project plan for build and implementation.
Our Approach
We conducted several site surveys and a series of discovery sessions we key stakeholders and service providers. From the information gathered, we were able to produce a scheme design for a centralised Card Issue and Management System and multiple applications including “Follow Me” Printing, Access Control, Cashless Catering, Pre Paid, Library, Health Club, and Registration & Attendance. The project plan and indicative costing described the logical order for implementation based on funds and the University’s overall strategy for service delivery.
Our Clients Results
The client signed off the Scheme Design and the final phase of the project was completed after just 15 months. The scheme is now used by over 30k Students, Staff and suppliers.
